He began his piece by writing about bitterwaitress.com. This is a website that had been recently started as a way for food service employees to chat and share their different stories from the workplace. This was a way for them communicate with their different social and work languages. A website like this could be considered a tool for an activity system in the workplace. One stereotyped activity I have participated in would be the band program at school. A multiliteracy might be considered the words and ideas we use while reading and using music. When people listen in to what we would be talking about or discussing they might be confused by what we mean and the words we were using. What do you think, currently, about the primary threshold concept for this project unit? This question also states, "why are there always restraints?" This is an interesting way to think. They are completely right about this idea though. It makes sense that there are always going to be restraints for writing, you have restraints for everything. It will depend on the type of writing you are doing, but ultimately you will always have restraints.  What in your words is an activity system and what are three that you know of? An activity system is something set up with a goal or purpose in mind. Some of the systems I can think of are: Churches:  These are set up with a goal to teach about Jesus. They use the Bible and preachers to help spread the word about Him to the different people.  Schools:  Schools are set up to teach children and young adults. Their goal is to cram as much information into our small heads as they can in the few years we are there. This is all...

This section has been interesting because it has made me think a little more about the people who have helped me in the past. This concept of literacy sponsors affects me in every way possible. I would not be able to do nearly any of the different skills and types of things I can currently do if it were not for literacy sponsors. These sponsors have played a crucial role in my life. I believe that a literacy sponsor is someone who has taught or influenced any part of your life. Whether it is something in the English class that you have learned, or even just cleaning your bathroom, if someone has taught you something you could consider them your literacy sponsor. I think of a literacy as anything you are good at. Whether it is a sport, music, particular school subject, or just a random talent like breathing fire. Someone always has to teach you this particular subject, these are your literacy sponsors.

Different language type at home vs. school. I think this type of thing is a tricky thing to talk about, especially nowadays. I think the biggest way to solve it if you are really that concerned about it is to do one way of talking for everyone. If you are going to do something for Black kids, you had better do it for the Asian and Indian kids. If you only do it for one culture or race, yes, it is definitely racism. So either choose one side or another. Why were there references in the reading? I think he used them to connect with other people and how they think. This shows that some people think similarly and people are not always different. This also shows that people have similar code to others. Which piece of writing sticks out to me? I liked the "Only Daughter'' piece. This is not because I am an only daughter, or even an only child, but rather how it changes the writing. In this test, the writer believes that her answer to a writer's questioning would be different depending on how old she was, how she grew up, and even the mood she was feeling, and I can relate to that idea. What did college mean to Cisnero's dad? He believed the only reason a daughter went to college was to get themselves a wife. Because of his perceived sponsorship, he did not really care what she did in college, as long as a husband came out of the many years she attended. I can think of a time where I misappropriated a particular sponsorship. I am currently a 3rd-year acro member, I have been on three different teams over my three years of participating in the sport. How is writing impacted by prior experiences? I think for sure your style of writing is impacted by what you have grown up with and have been taught. For example, if you grow up with a family who is very formal and proper, you would write in a way that is very formal and proper. If your family communicates a lot by texting or speaks in such a way that would be considered lazy or improper, you might tend to write in that way. How do sponsors gain from their sponsorship? In the case of my parents, they have gained because they now have someone to help out with all the big projects. Since they have taught me to work and do well with craftsman type labor, they now have someone who can help out keeping the house in repair and doing odd jobs.
